Tattoo Cover-Up Ink Must be Darker
When it comes to cover up tattoos – it is important to choose the tattoo that you want, and the right tattoo design, the first time around. When it comes to tattoos, there is no second chance that is available.
You can always choose to create a cover up tattoo for a design that you no longer enjoy – but it is important to remember that tattoo cover up in must be darker than the original tattoo and therefore must be able to cover the entire design. Due to this fact, it is important to remember that the choices that are available when one chooses to take advantage of a cover up tattoo are often limited.
Since there are such limited choices that are available, it is important that you make the right decision the first time around. There are limited designs that can be completed as cover up tattoos – and they are often limited to these darker colors, so many colored tattoos are out of the question when it comes to cover up tattoos.
How can you choose a tattoo artist to complete your tattoo when you are trying to cover another tattoo? You can use the portfolio of the tattoo artist to determine if they are the right choice for you, as looking at the past work of the artist can help you to determine the style of the tattoo artist and determine if it is a match for the piece you are seeking.

Hi-I recently had my mother’s maiden name put on my ankle in sort of Olde English writing-color Black-size 1/2″, but after getting it, the letters sort of started “running” into each other, so now, you cannot even see what it says – I had the name redone above this one, in a font called “Sultan” which is nice and is sort of just a block style lettering, so this one is nice, but now I need to have the old one covered up with something, and it looks like it could be covered up with some kind of band or something?? Can you help me?
Thank You!

Patty,
Sorry to hear about that! What about a floral design, or a scrolled design under the name? You can easily make a varietyof designs fora band tatoo that can also be a great way to cover it.

Hi–
Thank you for the response! I didn’t think anyone responded and then I went back in here and saw yours! I know, I’ve talked to a couple of tattoo artists about what they think would be something I could get to cover up the one tattoo, and they didn’t even seem to know!? So I suggested what about a vine of some kind with leaves or twists around it? Would you happen to have or know of any pictures of this type of design I could find? On the web?
Thank You!
Patty
