Although the dove tattoo has become a symbol of peace for many reasons, the original symbolic meaning of the dove can be found in the Bible. The accurate story of Noah comes to an end when a dove comes to Noah with an olive branch in his mouth. This symbolizes the calm after the storm (or flood in the literal sense) and a new beginning.
