Choosing An Arm Tattoo for Guys
There are three main types of arm tattoos which are chosen for guys. These three tattoos are all placed on different parts of the arm and can have different techniques while the art is being applied to the skin. Through the use of these arm tattoos, individuals are able to choose their design and determine which area of the arm would be best suited for this design. This can help to determine the type of placement in which the arm tattoo is going to be applied to the arm.
Sleeve tattoos are those that can range from the upper elbow to the shoulder, and most often go around the entire arm, similar to a sleeve. There is no mystery where this type of tattoo has gotten its name from and this tattoo can include a variety of designs which are combined together. Taking advantage of a sleeve tattoo can leave you with a variety of options when it comes to design and is the reason that this is one of the most popular types of arm tattoos.
Another type of arm tattoo which is increasingly popular for guys is the shoulder tattoo. Through the designs which are created for this type of tattoo, designs are placed within the shoulder and can be used to create a variety of effects through the available bold designs. The shoulder tattoo can often encompass the entire shoulder, on the arm, but does not extend to the back on the shoulder blade. The upper arm is a focal point many guys wish to accentuate and the shoulder tattoo can do this well.
Forearm tattoos are another type of arm tattoos. Through the use of these arm tattoos, there are a variety of designs which can be placed on the lower arm, whether on the inside or outside.

Hi Debby,
Be sure to research symbol tattoos in great depth before getting them – as it can be easy to get the wrong symbol. Work with a tattoo artist that has experience, as this can help to ensure that you get the right look.

In my opinion, a beautiful crafted arm tattoo is the best choice for “first timers”. As an artist myself, I all too often see newbies getting a huge back tattoo as their first – and after a couple of months the regret their choice. It’s a lot better to start off with a smaller arm tattoo.

Love Arm Tattoos,
This is very good advice, smaller tattoos are better for those that are seeking a design for their first tattoo.

I’m thinking about getting a tattoo on my inner bicep for my first tattoo. I’ve been thinking about it for around two years now, and am planning on getting some type of song lyric or something similar. I haven’t completely decided yet. Is the inner bicep a good idea as far as pain tolerance for a first tattoo? Thanks!

I’ve been looking for the perfect arm tattoo for the last 3 years and haven’t come across anything I like. I’m not into bands. I would much rather have a peice that would start at my shoulder and continue to my elbow. I LOVE tribal art and was curious to know if you could suggest where I could go a find a unique peice for me
thanx, Amber

Matt –
There are so many things that you can incorporate into the tribal art including names, as well as many other design elements. Through these designs you can ensure that you are able to get a completely unique design, too.
Going into the shop and speaking with a tattoo artist is the best way to get the design that suits you, but that’s also unique.

I would go speak with a tattoo artist about the options that are available to you. They often have a variety of ideas to choose from and you can get inspiration for things that you didn’t even think about. Also, bring designs that you like with you for inspiration.

Hi,
I would like my childrens names in the following font design that they have chosen – ‘sepulcra’. They would like to see it on my upper arm.
My only question would be, should i get their names horizontal or vetical? i.e. wrapped around my arm, or down my arm?
Cheers
